Level 4 Apprenticeship

Overview

This qualification aims to develop the knowledge, understanding, behaviours and skills that underpin Professional Practice within the children’s care, play, learning and development sector. This qualification is primarily for those working in regulated childcare settings with families and children under the age of 8 and NHS children’s services for those working with families and children 0-19. This qualification has been developed in close collaboration with key sector stakeholders, including Social Care Wales and Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW).
This qualification provides progression for learners who have completed the Level 3 Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development (Practice) qualification.


What is covered on the course?

Development of knowledge and skills required for professional practice within childcare or health settings and must take one of the following pathways.

  • Working with families and carers to develop parenting skills
  • Working with children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SCLN)
  • Recognising and supporting children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN)

Entry requirements

It is primarily suited to a manager/deputy manager, that is accountable for the long-term performance of those who report in to them and are responsible for undertaking staff supervisions/appraisals. Typically you will lead planning meetings, team meetings and complete minutes for these and support staff to carrying out assessments and planning in the setting. You will be required to complete a pre-assessment assignment prior to being accepted on the course.

Qualifications

On successful completion of the qualification, the individual will be awarded the following:

  • Professional Practice in Children's Care, Play, Learning and Development: Practice Level 4
  • Essential Application of Number (EAonS) Level 2
  • Essential Communication (ECommS) Level 2
