Level 2 Apprenticeship

Overview

The Foundation Apprenticeship in Playwork L2 is aimed at individuals who wish to start a career in the playwork sector. The qualification is also suitable for individuals who already work in the playwork sector who wish to up-skill or gain a further qualification.


What is covered on the course?

There are 12 mandatory units to complete alongside a variety of optional units that can be chosen to suit specific needs and/or requirements of individuals and theirĀ settings. The 12 mandatory units include:

  • Playwork principles
  • Health and Safety
  • Relationships in the play environment
  • Working in a play environment
  • Welfare of children in the play environment
  • Safeguarding
  • Improving own practice
  • Supporting children’s play
  • Reflective practice
  • Supporting relationships in the play environment
  • Creating play spaces and supporting self-directed play
  • Developing team practice


There are also a variety of optional units to choose from including:

  • Food and drink
  • Working with parents and carers
  • Playwork in the community

Entry requirements

Learners must be at least 16 years old and work in the playwork sector.

Qualifications

On successful completion of the qualification, the individual will be awarded the following:

  • Level 2 Playwork
  • Essential Application of Number (EAonS) Level 1
  • Essential Communication (ECommS) Level 2
